VM0033 Methodology for Tidal Wetland and Seagrass Restoration, v2.1
Verra – Verified Carbon Standard (VCS)
Active since September 2023
This methodology quantifies the net GHG emission reductions and removals resulting from tidal wetland restoration activities. This ethodology covers the restoration of mangroves or other tidal tree ecosystems. Activities that generate GHG reductions or removals include restoring or managing hydrological conditions, altering sediment supply, changing salinity, improving water quality, (re-)introducing native species, and improving management practices. Projects applying this methodology are expected to generate GHG emission reductions and removals primarily by increasing both biomass and autochthonous soil organic carbon. Projects following this methodology can generate carbon credits under the VCS based on the volume of GHG emissions reduced or removed.
Projects anywhere in the world engaged in tidal wetland restoration – including reforestation of tidal forests such as mangroves – that are interested in generating carbon credits through VCS

VM0042 Methodology for Improved Agricultural Land Management, v2.0
Verra – Verified Carbon Standard (VCS)
Active since May 2023
This methodology quantifies the GHG emission reductions and soil organic carbon (SOC) removals resulting from the adoption of improved agricultural land management (ALM) practices. ALM practices can include agroforestry and planting woody perennials (e.g., trees and shrubs), and these practices can restore ecosystems. Projects following this methodology can generate carbon credits under the VCS based on the volume of GHG emissions removed by ALM practices.
Projects anywhere in the world focused on improving agricultural land management – including through tree planting or agroforestry – that are interested in generating carbon credits through VCS.

VM0045 Methodology for Improved Forest Management Using Dynamic Matched Baselines from National Forest Inventories, v1.1
Verra – Verified Carbon Standard (VCS)
Active since March 2024
This methodology quantifies the GHG emission reductions and sequestration resulting from the adoption of one or more new IFM activities in areas that are defined as forests. IFM activities that enhance sequestration can apply this methodology, which means that it could apply to restoration activities. Projects following this methodology can generate carbon credits under the VCS based on the volume of GHG emissions sequestered and avoided by IFM activities compared to the baseline of emissions set by national forest inventories.
Projects anywhere in the world focused on improved forest management (IFM) that are interested in generating carbon credits through VCS and are using baselines created from national forest inventories.

VM0047 Methodology for Afforestation, Reforestation, and Revegetation, v1.0
Verra – Verified Carbon Standard (VCS)
Active since September 2023
This methodology measures the removals of GHGs from the atmosphere due to afforestation,
reforestation, and revegetation project activities. The methodology is applicable to
afforestation, reforestation, and revegetation activities as long as those activities do not involve
significant offsite removal or burning of pre-existing dead wood, take place in wetlands, or take
place on organic soils or wetlands and result in an intentional manipulation of the water table.
Projects following this methodology can generate carbon credits under the VCS based on the
volume of GHG emissions removed.
Projects anywhere in the world engaged in afforestation, reforestation and revegetation that are interested in generating carbon credits through VCS
